Number of Toilets to Provide on Your Construction Sites
Did you know? According to the European standard EN 16194, a minimum of 2 mobile sanitation cabins must be provided for a site of 14 workers.
Indeed, under the latest revisions to the EN 16194 standard, 1 sanitation cabin is required for every 7 workers on a site. In addition, the highest peak attendance on site must be taken into account when calculating the number of facilities needed. That said, other calculation methods can also help you determine the number of construction site toilets required for your teams.

How Many Toilets Should Be Provided on a Construction Site?
According to the European standard EN 16194 — the reference standard for mobile hygiene solution rental providers — certain conditions must be taken into account to determine the number of facilities needed on a site. Both the number of workers present on site and the desired weekly cleaning frequency must be considered.
The number of cabins needed can be calculated based on increments of 7 workers. Under this method, you should count 1 cabin per 7 people, and 3 cabins for 21 people.

That said, the number of cabins needed can also be adjusted based on cleaning frequency. For example, if your site has 22 workers, you could opt for just a single cabin at the employees’ worksite, but in that case you would need 3 weekly cleaning services. The estimate can therefore be adjusted depending on how often the cleaning and disinfection service visits.

Additionally, it’s important to take into account the number of women present on your site. To uphold the principle of gender inclusion, as soon as a woman is present at the worksite, an additional cabin must be provided to preserve her privacy.
Finally, a maximum distance of 80 meters must be maintained between the worksite and the location of the sanitation facilities.

To comply with the EN 16194 standard and follow OPPBTP recommendations, certain points must be respected when calculating the mobile sanitation facilities needed on your site.
