Investigadores del <strong data-start=\"694\" data-end=\"762\">Institut de Ci\u00e8ncia i Tecnologia Ambientals de la UAB (ICTA-UAB)<\/strong> han demostrado que s\u00ed es posible. Probado con \u00e9xito en cultivos de tomate, este avance representa una v\u00eda innovadora para <strong data-start=\"885\" data-end=\"927\">transformar residuos en valor agr\u00edcola. <\/strong>Adem\u00e1s, tambi\u00e9n reducen\u00a0el impacto ambiental de los fertilizantes industriales. Es, sin duda, un paso firme hacia una econom\u00eda circular real.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1057\" data-end=\"1122\">Un fertilizante alternativo y respetuoso con el medio ambiente<\/h2>\n<h3 data-start=\"1124\" data-end=\"1158\">Aportaci\u00f3n de nutrientes clave<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1160\" data-end=\"1481\">El estudio concluye que la orina humana, tambi\u00e9n conocida como <strong data-start=\"1223\" data-end=\"1242\">\u00abagua amarilla\u00bb<\/strong>, es rica en nitr\u00f3geno, un nutriente esencial para la producci\u00f3n agr\u00edcola. Esto la convierte en una alternativa viable a los fertilizantes convencionales, que dependen de recursos no renovables como el gas natural, el petr\u00f3leo o el carb\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1483\" data-end=\"1530\">Reducci\u00f3n de emisiones y consumo energ\u00e9tico<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1532\" data-end=\"1752\">Adem\u00e1s de aportar nutrientes, este sistema permite <strong data-start=\"1583\" data-end=\"1639\">reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero<\/strong>. Tambi\u00e9n disminuye el consumo de agua y de energ\u00eda necesaria para la fabricaci\u00f3n de fertilizantes tradicionales.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1754\" data-end=\"1799\">Impacto global: un problema en crecimiento<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1801\" data-end=\"2132\">En este contexto, la <strong data-start=\"1822\" data-end=\"1905\">FAO (Organizaci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentaci\u00f3n y la Agricultura)<\/strong> advierte que la demanda mundial de nitr\u00f3geno como fertilizante crece un 1 % cada a\u00f1o. Esto representa un aumento de <strong data-start=\"2022\" data-end=\"2068\">m\u00e1s de 1.000 millones de toneladas anuales<\/strong>, lo que hace urgente la b\u00fasqueda de soluciones m\u00e1s sostenibles.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2134\" data-end=\"2179\">\u00bfC\u00f3mo funciona el proceso de recuperaci\u00f3n?<\/h2>\n<h3 data-start=\"2181\" data-end=\"2226\">Prueba piloto en un edificio bioclim\u00e1tico<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2228\" data-end=\"2488\">El experimento se llev\u00f3 a cabo en el propio edificio del ICTA-UAB, que cuenta con una <strong data-start=\"2314\" data-end=\"2360\">planta piloto de recuperaci\u00f3n de nitr\u00f3geno<\/strong> y un invernadero en su cubierta. All\u00ed se evalu\u00f3 el uso de orina tratada como fertilizante en un cultivo hidrop\u00f3nico de tomates.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2490\" data-end=\"2536\">Del urinario al cultivo: el ciclo completo<\/h3>\n<ol data-start=\"2538\" data-end=\"2816\">\n<li data-start=\"2538\" data-end=\"2598\">\n<p data-start=\"2541\" data-end=\"2598\">La orina se recolecta en urinarios masculinos sin agua.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2599\" data-end=\"2657\">\n<p data-start=\"2602\" data-end=\"2657\">Se transporta a un reactor donde se regula su acidez.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2658\" data-end=\"2760\">\n<p data-start=\"2661\" data-end=\"2760\">Microorganismos convierten la urea en nitratos, forma que las plantas pueden absorber f\u00e1cilmente.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2761\" data-end=\"2816\">\n<p data-start=\"2764\" data-end=\"2816\">El nitrato se utiliza luego para regar los cultivos.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-start=\"2818\" data-end=\"2974\">Como resultado, <strong data-start=\"2834\" data-end=\"2901\">un metro c\u00fabico de orina tratada produce 7,5 kilos de nitr\u00f3geno<\/strong>, lo suficiente para <strong data-start=\"2922\" data-end=\"2959\">cultivar 2,4 toneladas de tomates<\/strong> al aire libre.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2976\" data-end=\"3032\">Posibilidades de expansi\u00f3n y beneficios a gran escala<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3034\" data-end=\"3288\">Aunque se trata de un estudio a escala de laboratorio, los resultados son muy prometedores.
